I love this story. It has a beautiful construction, the writing is crystal clear and evocative and the story leaves so much to think about. And then, there's a dynamite ending. Finally, it leaves you pondering the devil's words: Are we all heading to hell, or is that the devil playing with our heads to tempt us to say, "Well, what the heck. If I'm going to hell no matter what, I'm gonna really live it up/down!"
I really like this story: the portrayal of hell as a sort of lack of anything - an emptiness. Reminded me of desperation. At first I thought you were gonna go with the Divine Comedy’s hell, where the center is frozen rather than hot. Also love the idea of the devil appearing as a little girl - I wrote a short when I was like 22 where a guy goes to Heaven and God is just a little girl. Anyways, great story
Thank you, Keith! I appreciate that. I loved playing with the Devil in this tale, and I'll always think of the circles when writing a story involving hell, so I probably considered it. haha
God as a child would be fun to play around with as well!
"Because sin is pervasive, and belief is dependent." Honestly, with a line like that, I wasn't expecting a glimmer of hope at the ending. But I was fooled - Loved every bit of it! ♡
The little girl/devil materialized before me with such clarity--what a great story! Love the ending
Thank you, Will! That means a lot to me. <3
Another tale, another experience of being transported. Felt my feet burning on that dusty ol’ road. Loved it. Reading your work is always a treat.👊
Thank you, Lizzy! You're the best! <3

Thank for reading, Sandy! I for one will be upping my sin levels. ;)

Oh I loved the imagery of the pall bearer vultures. 👏

Thank you, Malayka! Beautiful name btw. I wasn't planning on ending it the way I did, it was a bit of a surprise to me, too! haha
Aw, thanks! ☺️ That last line was a good call for sure. I'm a sucker for a happy ending - even when it's only implied 👏🏾
Thanks, C.J.! <3
